the athletic tee by the real mccoys is made in japan from soft loopwheeled cotton. loopwheel machines were the standard from the 1920s until the 1960s when higher speed knitting took over for the sake of efficiency at the cost of softness and comfort. today there are only 400 loopwheel machines left in wakayama, japan (and some in germany), with about 200 running at any time. these machines weave a sluggish pace, with only 12 meters of fabric produced every day (about 10 t-shirts). but this labor- and time-intensive production process is also what makes loopwheel fabrics so unique. the fabric is exceptionally soft, feels like it was hand-woven and is so comfortable to wear. this great tee will be your favorite for years with a thick, soft hand and a regular fit, with no side seams. it can shrink in length with the first wash, but it can be stretched back out by hand if needed.
