studio d'artisan | sd-800 15oz natural indigo selvedge jeans (tapered)
the sd-800 is a completely new cut in studio d'artisan's jeans portfolio. the pants are based on sda's (slim) relaxed tapered silhouette but have a slightly higher rise and a more relaxed and slightly longer leg (34" inseam after washing). they are made in japan from a 15oz selvedge denim dyed with natural indigo. for the development of this special fabric, sda has once again teamed up with the indigo experts from tokushima. the objective was to make natural indigo much more accessible and at a digestible price point, with the yarns going through a rope-dyeing process as opposed to being individually dyed by hand. while the resulting denim is much more uniform compared to the slubby fabrics coming from tokushima - this is at no detriment to the unique fading experience that natural indigo-dyed jeans are known for.
