the real mccoy's | og-107 utility shirt / imjin scouts
the og-107 utility shirt / imjin scouts by the real mccoy's is based on the shirt worn by john lennon, a self-confessed anti-war activist, in the 1970s. the shirt was a gift from a us soldier who had served in korea. together with the us army's 2nd infantry division, he was sent back to korea in 1965 - about ten years after the official ceasefire - to take part in reconnaissance missions around the demilitarized zone and to be on standby in case the situation should change again. “imjin scouts” was the unofficial title given to the soldiers who undertook the dangerous patrols around the imjin river. those who passed the training wore the badge proudly on their chest – as seen here, with an embroidered patch on the right pocket.
