the original m-43 service shoe was issued in 1943 with the goal to have a cost-effective, durable shoe for all forms of combat conditions. john lofgren set out to make the ultimate version of this boot using japanese craftsmanship and the very best materials. this strongly limited production run is made from a very special black tea-core shinki hikaku horsebutt leather. the shinki tannery specializes in horsehide leather tanning and is considered one of the best - if not the best - tanneries in the world. the beautiful grain leather will feel a bit stiff in the beginning but soon will relax and form around the wearer's foot.
